About the event
Nearly two weeks ago, Israel experienced a surprise attack. A war has begun between Israel and Hamas, and its impact is felt painfully and deeply throughout the region and around the world. Israelis, Palestinians, and their diaspora communities worldwide are experiencing loss and despair, and it might seem like a time not to ask the most basic questions. But now is precisely the right time to ask questions, even the ones with no clear answers.
"Why did this happen now?"; "How did we get here?"; "Who is Hamas?"; "Where is Gaza?"; "What about those protests against the government?"
We want you to have space for all of your questions, answers where we have them, and some trusted resources for further information.
Led by UWS Shlicha/Israel Emissary Gali Rabin Choresh and Rabbi Yael Rapport, this program will provide a very basic overview of the events of the past two weeks, and, more importantly, a space for questions to be shared in a non-judgemental learning space. We'll close our discussion at 8 pm to allow for processing and getting to know one another for those who wish to stay and share in community.
Please reach out to Rabbi Yael Rapport at yrapport@mmjccm.org or Gali Rabin at grabin@mmjccm.org for more information.
