With the current political crisis unfolding in Israel, there is no more timely an occasion to come together to discuss and debate the State of Israel’s founding document, its Declaration of Independence. Led by educators from BINA: The Jewish Movement for Social Change, we’ll examine this document and discuss the nature and future of Israel’s democracy and democratic values. Our program will culminate in a panel discussion with our rabbis, scholars, and Consul General of Israel to New York Asaf Zamir on the current political situation and the future of Israeli democracy. This program is in partnership with BINA: The Jewish movement for Social Change and Congregation Ansche Chesed
Asaf Zamir is the Consul General of Israel in New York. He previously served as Deputy Mayor of Tel Aviv and as a Member of Knesset in the Blue and White Party. Rabbi Elliot Cosgrove is Senior Rabbi at Park Avenue Synagogue Rabbi Jeremy Kalmanofsky is Senior Rabbi at Ansche Chesed on the Upper West Side. Nir Braudo is the Executive Director of BINA Ayala Deckel is head of BINA's Secular Yeshiva
