About the event
Join Gali Rabin, Upper West Side shlicha (Israel Emissary), and Liana Meirom-Asif, the Director of the Shlichut Initiative to UJA, for a behind-the-scenes experience featuring the "7.5 ways to see Israel" exhibit. In honor of Israel's 75th anniversary, this exhibit brings together unique perspectives of Israeli society through a camera lens. Israel's beauty, complexity, and inherent hopefulness are captured by the Israeli artists' photographs and the lived experience of the New York City shlichim (Israeli ambassadors). This intimate evening goes beyond the typical artist talk to create an experiential exploration of contemporary Israel, where you are invited to bring your curiosity about Israeli society.
*This dinner is technology-free and suitable for those who are traditionally observant.
WHAT IS SHABBAT SHABBANG?
We begin every Shabbat Shabbang with rituals and appetizers. It’s a moment to come together as a Shabbat community and begin the process of letting go of the hustle of our week. From there we go off to our selected program rooms for a dairy meal, delicious wines, and an hour of stimulating conversations, artistic experiences, and illuminating learning opportunities. We reconvene for desserts and coffee. Your weekend has not just begun. It’s kicked off—with a shabbang. This shabbang is held on Erev Sukkot (the eve of Sukkot). Blessings and appetizers at the beginning of the night and dessert and coffee at the end of the night will take place in our rooftop sukkah.
Pre-registration is required. This event is for adults and teens age 17 and older.
