About the event

Using animation, a live painting performance & readings with illustrated slides, Yossi and Yarden Vassa showcase how art and storytelling merge in a graphic novel. The touching autobiography, created with sensitivity and humor, tells a universal immigration story about the desire to belong. The Last Day to Dress Up is the prestigious Devora Omer Literature Award winner, selected for Israel's Ministry of Education's Book Parade and the Illustration Library at the Israel Museum.


Yossi Vassa, an acclaimed actor and writer, immigrated to Israel from Ethiopia at 10. With a career spanning theater, television, film, and literature, he's earned prestigious awards and performed worldwide, including Broadway. In 2018, he won an International Emmy Award for his sitcom Nevsu, which he created, wrote, and starred in.

Yarden Vassa, Visual Artist and graphic novelist, merit scholar of The San Francisco Art Institute, exhibited and sold independent comics in US and Israel. The Last…
